Record attendance at the “Rotary Charity Dinner” for the Esperia Association

[Article by Silvia Lodi Pasini published on “Settegiorni”] – With 75 women present, the Charity Dinner in favor of the Espera association which took place last Wednesday at Gudo Visconti's Corte del Sellaio broke all records.
Organizing it, as always, was the women of the Morimondo Abbazia Rotary Club led by the President's wife, Vanessa Locatelli Carnevali, who is also the promoter of the crownfounding to financially support the Espera association of Abbiategrasso, which takes care of children with very serious disabilities. "The inspiration came from the desire of the women of the Rotary Club Morimondo Abbazia to create a path dedicated to women, with the aim of raising funds for a very important cause - explained Vanessa Locatelli -. Our objective is to raise funds for the Espera association: a local reality recently founded, but which intends to be a cry of hope and a hymn to the joy of life. We want to support it to guarantee a better life for disabled children and their families, because Espera dedicates itself to this through projects and initiatives". To better explain to those present what it means for parents to find themselves alone in dealing with the problems associated with having a severely handicapped child, Jessica Magatti thought about it, who also listed the results achieved by the association she founded with her husband Gabriele: "What has Espera done in these 3 years? To date it has supported more than 200 families. From January 2022 to today Espera has given: 2279 hours of nursing care, 530 hours of physiotherapy and rehabilitation neuropsychomotor therapy, 358 hours of speech therapy and 27 hours of osteopathy. With the “With the llama on holiday” project we offer every year nursing care on holiday for three families for 8 hours a day. In recent years, Espera has also offered 56 caregivers and 10 siblings the opportunity to participate in online psychological support groups. Thanks to doctors and nurses expert in critical care, we have trained 85 people with 5 pBLSD courses, from this year held in collaboration with the Croce Azzurra of Abbiategrasso. Thanks to Learning Syndrome we allowed 16 teachers/educators/caregivers to participate in a laboratory training course to try to trace new horizons in learning that are inclusive, personalized to the individual and based on concrete experience". She also recounted the drama that she, together with her husband Gabriele, found themselves experiencing after the birth of their son Edoardo. The little one, as soon as he was born, suffered a cardiac arrest without the hospital staff realizing it in time to avoid the irreversible brain damage caused by the lack of oxygen to the brain. For almost eight years the child has been completely dependent on his parents.
