(Article by Silvia Lodi Pasini) – MORIMONDO (lps) Degree course in Applied Solidarity. If credit existed, it would go to the Morimondo Abbazia Rotary Club, whose president Giuseppe Resnati, university professor of the "Giulio Natta" department of Material Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of the Polytechnic of Milan and as such president of the scientific research committee of the same university, promoted within the EXPO the awarding of 8 scholarships to as many researchers studying the Chemistry of Fluorine. The presentation of the awards took place on Wednesday evening, 26 August, at EXPO, in the Italian Pavilion, coinciding with the holding of the 21st International Symposium on Fluorine in Como, ongoing until 28 August, at the Cernobbio headquarters of the Lombard Polytechnic. President Resnati's proposal to help finance high-level research with the funds that Rotary has available to support culture and young people was welcomed not only by RC Morimondo Abbazia but also by Gudo Visconti, active parties in the delivery ceremony, which also took place in the presence of the past governor of the 2015 District Anna Spalla of RC Certosa. The 8 young doctors who received the Young Scientist Prize with related scholarship came from all over Italy: Valentina Dichiarante from Pavia, Ilaria Tirotta from Rome, Claudia Pigliacelli from Rome, Arianna Bertolani from Milan, Daniele Maiolo from Brescia, Luisa Leavelfari from Florence, Andrea Pizzi from Milan, Lara Gazzera from Milan and Gabriella Cavallo from Salerno, who received the prestigious Lecturship Award. The president of the Rc Morimondo Abbazia, Giuseppe Resnati, and the counterpart of the Rc Gudo Visconti Navigli Viscontei Edoardo Lucia Di Masca, as well as Anna Spalla, presented them with the certificates of merit. The service was also an opportunity for the Rotarians to visit the Universal Exhibition and to contribute once again to supporting Nepal, having dinner at the pavilion of the Asian country whose participation in the Expo risked being canceled due to the devastating earthquake that hit it on 25 April. This is also a gesture of solidarity, which adds to the 3,500 euro check that Morimondo has already drawn for the reconstruction of Nepal, through the organization last June of an evening dedicated to fundraising and held at the Cavallerizza di Vigevano.
