Rotary Historica, the Belgioioso castle attacked by vintage cars

(Article by Silvia Lodi Pasini, published in “IL GIORNO” Pavia) – A full-scale assault on the castle, but this time it's not armor that shines but splendid bodywork. Those of the 43 historic cars that paraded on Sunday (13 September) for the 2nd Rotary Historica: the solidarity car rally organized by the Rotary club Morimondo Abbazia with Rc Pavia Est Terre Viscontee di Belgioioso and Classic Club Italia to raise funds for a minor from Borgarello (PV) who is the only one in the world. The event unfolded along the route between Morimondo and Belgioioso, discovering architectural beauties. Unfortunately Giove Pluvio was not very lenient in the two intermediate stages: in Certosa di Pavia and in Borgarello, where at the Rsa Amodeo there was a refreshment stop with a visit to the facility for the elderly. Fortunately, the rain spared both the departure and the arrival in Belgioioso, where the cars positioned themselves in the courtyard of the fourteenth-century part of the Castle, owned by the municipality, and in the streets around the monument symbolizing the city: a glance of considerable impact for both the Belgians and the tourists, who visiting the castle found themselves faced with a splendid parade of vintage cars, including unique examples in Italy. Over 150 people had lunch in the hall of the "unfinished sleeve" of the castle, where Alcandro Paris, president of Rc Pavia Est Terre Viscontee did the honours. At his side Giuseppe Resnati, president of RC Morimondo Abbazia, who thanked those present, including the deputy mayor of Belgioioso Fabio Zucca then proceeded to award the winning cars. In fact, all the participating cars were subjected to the judgment of those present, who voted in favor of the favourite. The result thus obtained was added to the vote of the Technical Evaluation Commission, decreeing the final victory of the 1956 Lancia Aurelia B24 convertible of Attilio Mari from Rodano (MI), awarded the "Golden Piston". The “Historica” cup for the oldest car went to the 1930 Lancia Augusta of Gianni Femminiella of Milan. “Golden Piston” also ala Paolo Ciprandi's 1952 Mercedes Benz 170DS, Aurelio Morosi's 1984 London Taxi and Franco Orio's 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600. The Historica cup goes to the 1963 Porsche coupé 356 of Alessandro Ravenni from Prato for the furthest crew.
