the Banner
Our Banner
Our banner features the profile image of Morimondo Abbey. The sign is deliberately simple and, for its creation, the architecture was copied from life, trying to identify the most significant aspects, accentuating the formal aspects, without, however, altering the proportions between the various parts of the building.
The sign was highlighted with a brown thread, recalling the color of the scapular of the first monks coming from the Cistercian monastery of Morimond in France. The profile of the monastery appears on a white background, recalling the light-coloured tunic of the Cistercian monks.
The Cistercians were, in fact, called the white monks, from the color of their tunics, as opposed to the Benedictines, who wore dark habits and were called the black monks. Indeed, the tunic was not white, but almost straw-colored, since out of poverty, the monks' tunics were made from the raw wool of sheep, without any dye.
The title of our Club stands out in the body of the banner, in simple characters and the typical color of raw cordage, surmounted by the symbol of Rotary International. The banner is made of regular-shaped fabric, tapered at the sides and fringed at the base, with cotton thread trimmings.
